It’s all happening at Wattlewood!
The Wattlewood Angus team have been feverishly working on their latest project in bringing their dream to life- a purpose built 80 acre bull sale complex.
The site has been modelled on their existing home set up with 6 small paddocks to pen the sale bulls for Beef Week on Saturday 31st of January, the upcoming MLA Bredwell Fedwell Workshop on the 10th of February and of course the annual sale on Thursday 5th of March.
The Glover’s have built a shed with roller doors to allow air flow through the building on a warm day or are able to close them down, should the weather turn inclement. As always, the team has set out to provide a homely feel with welcoming food and drink and this will take place in the beautiful, repurposed silos that are in place.
Enough about the venue, let’s roll on to the exceptional bulls that will be on display for Beef Week- there will be 35 ‘cream of the crop’ bulls that as always, had all their vaccinations and health checks that clients have come to expect from this thorough operation.
Fiona says “being a part of the industry backed Immune Ready program allows us to have the comfort knowing that the bulls are ready to go out and work effectively and efficiently. They have all passed their semen tests and are parent verified, so clients can make an informed selection of their next top sire to improve their existing herd”.
Coming off a credible 3rd place in last years Beef Week Heifer Challenge, the couple are just so proud of the females that ultimately contribute 50% to the sale the bull’s genetics. “Getting the female breeding herd right is a key component to having bulls that just work and are able to get the job done”, says Fiona.
Providing a platform for all producers to improve their operation is important to the Glovers and the Wattlewood team, hosting an MLA Bredwell Fedwell workshop, where attendees will learn about genetic selection and how to get the highest rewards from their property and beef herd.
There won’t be much of a break before the property comes to life again at the Wattlewood Angus Annual On Farm Bull Sale on Friday the 5th of March at 4pm.
